The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

Big annual reading tomorrow for my org, and a student asked me if it would be considered rude if while everyone else read, he just put on headphones and watched the Tyson fight.
I'd say kids these days, but he's 50!

Teaching undergrad and grad students, part of my job right now (post election) is supporting students - giving care, checking in, sharing ideas.

I have no specific training for this role. I basically try to offer what I would want: presence, attention, sincerity, compassion, grace, encouragement…

Find yourself in the sexy, violent, scary, and impossibly kind world of the Dampers, a group of vampires who make the decision every day to not feed on human beings.

Maple Island, the new novel by Dennis Vogen. Experience it November 7 2025.

Hammered out a grant proposal over the weekend. I'll find out in April if I'm able to hire an amazing poet to teach a class.

Key takeaways for Newsky Bluesky especially my dnd and nerd culture twitter souls.

- Blocking over arguing is highly encouraged

- We don't wanna see your quote dunks, handle it in their comments or block them.

- Alt text on your images is awesome

- leave your old social media drama at the door

Concept: Authors "covering" older books the way that musicians cover older songs.

Who would you like to see cover an old story, and which one? (Author does not need to be alive)

I'd love to see a Pratchett version of The Hitchhiker's Guide.
