EXACTLY.

It’s bullshit.

I drove around all over the city today. You know what I saw?

People walking their dogs, surfers heading for the (sadly lackluster) waves, working the community garden, having brunch with friends, running errands (like me), shopping, just farting around. You know, living.
Los Angeles is not a war zone. We are not descending into chaos and lawlessness. We’re a great city full of good people. We don’t need the National Guard.

Whoaaaa ... this solar storm is so strong, they are seeing it up in Coonabarabran (latitude: 31 degrees south!).

That's 200 km NW of Sydney!

Coonabarabran sits on the edge of one of the only dark sky parks in the southern hemisphere, out in the Warrumbungles.

We have big telescopes near there!

This is fascinating work. A possible new dwarf planet has been spotted at the edge of our solar system and it only comes to visit every 25,000 years or so. 🧪

Its unusual orbit is also evidence against the existence of the hypothetical Planet 9.

He’d certainly know about deeply unprofitable. Don’t take my word — Google it. This aside, what nonsense comparing America to a private company (yes, some tech dudes are that reductively stupid). You can be for more government efficiency and not support the random bonfire of cruelty that DOGE is.

Sad to see this, burnout is a scourge on almost all worthwhile software projects, and especially in open source.

This is why I have no shame in saying no as a default: www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2022/ju...

Back in the late 2000s, I was a major contributor to the Wii homebrew scene. At the time, I worked on software (people call them “jailbreaks” these days) to allow users to run their own unofficial app...

I really love this guy's enthusiasm but so many wrong steps to get here and reinventing all the things unnecessarily. That's what happens when you don't know how the product/Hardware development & industrial mass production works.

I wish all the very best in the world.
As I said yesterday, this one is a bit late due to other stuff that needed to be taken care of, but better late than never, so here it is:

I don't understand the concept of @arduino R4 Uno/Ek Wifi. Uses RA4M1 chip clocked at 48MHz & priced at €30. It's expensive for hobbyists & uses ESP32-S3 for wifi, which itself a dual core CPU clocked at 240MHz. You can grab S3 dev board at €5 with led matrix under €10.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.
