They can cause serious injury to other visitors, terrify our wildlife and damage this important habitat. And our team have to clear up the mess that is left behind. Thank you for helping us to keep the Commons safe and peaceful for everyone.

When massive insurers with huge climate science expertise, like Allianz Munich Re or Swiss Re, warn that capitalism itself is on an unsustainable path, let alone our civilisation, governments need to pay attention.

Well worth looking at the report by Richard Murphy.
"How will you pay for it?" The answer is in Taxing Wealth Report 2024. 30 simple tax changes = £90bn a year. That’s half the NHS budget. Labour doesn’t need to hit the poor | Prof Richard Murphy

There are better ways for Rachel Reeves to find the money she needs
Richard Murphy’s proposals for simple, rapid tax reforms could easily raise the money Rachel Reeves needs, without penalising the poor

The UK's 8 million or so 'outdoor' cats reputedly kill about 160 million small mammals and birds every year.

That's a lot of carnage.

Will UK farmers start suing the UK government for its inadequate response to the #ClimateEmergency?
The irony of farmers and farmers’ associations (also) involved in animal husbandry turning to the court to force the government to do more to act on climate change. And that picture 😱.

We knew that dog flea treatments kill river and pond life and that they stay on dog owners' hands for weeks after use.
Now we know they kill songbirds in our gardens too.

Next up: how those pesticides are poisoning children who stroke dogs treated against fleas.
