Under capitalism, housing prices are set by supply and demand and housing is allocated by people’s ability to pay.

In the absence of brand new homes for them to buy, the wealthy will bid up the price of the best available existing homes and renovate them into luxury.

What Democrats Must Do is find leaders & spokespeople who can explain to the public that the policies they want will <only> ever happen if <first> there are major institutional reforms that fundamentally fix our broken legislative, electoral, & judicial institutions.
The. Policy. Project. And. Platform. Needs. To. Be. Institutional. Reform.
🧵 Democrats need to stop promising sweeping policies like this w/o ever discussing <institutional> reform. There was <no way> any of this was going to pass the Senate. It's no wonder voters get disillusioned. You promise them magical 🦄 & can't deliver. The <platform> needs to be institutional reform

(4) Trump and the Republicans don't have an advantage over Democrats because they *better understand heartland Americans.*

They have an advantage over Democrats because they created their own universe of propaganda outlets, and then went out and bought all the mainstream outlets.

Duh.

every day i see hundreds of comments of people spinning elaborate scenarios to explain how trump can control everything and all opposition is futile. a) i think a lot of you need to log off and stop following professional doomsayers. b) i think a lot of you are cowards

My wish list is:

1) court packing
2) wealth tax (Warren actually proposed 6%/yr on wealth over 1B which is much higher than my proposal of a one-time 5-10% capital levy then blanket 1-2%).
3) all the 2021 reforms (JLVRA, HR1, Equality Act, etc.)

There is a fairly short and straight line, it seems to me, between defending the existence of concentration camps in Palestine, and ending up with concentration camps in the United States.
