RFA Proteus has stopped within the Irish EEZ, relatively close to where some of the fun happened a year ago.

It's currently a little less than 1NM away from the gas interconnector.

Hopefully just a training ex rather than a full blown replay of last year.

RFA Proteus working away in the Irish Sea again today.

Around this time last year, RFA Proteus was shadowing Yantar while it lingered over cables and vitally important gas interconnectors in the Irish Sea, in some not so subtle signalling.

(To be clear, I don't know where Yantar is right now...)

Interesting recent episodes of @restisclassified.bsky.social podcast on Crypto AG.

I remember being amazed that Crypto AG was still in business in the 2000's as there appeared to be open & widely reported suspicion of them since at least the 1980s.

My apologies - I hadn't had enough coffee!

RZK Constanta is actually in Belushya Guba - it left Severny on 28 October, same day Yauza arrived in Severny.

It is Teriberka & (possibly) Sabetta in Gribovaya Bay.

I say "possibly" as Sabetta seems more reluctant to use AIS.

Sentinel 1 SAR from today.

The vessels involved in monitoring Burevestnik tests, appear to be departing Matochkin Shar en masse this morning.

Some "Mission Accomplished" choreography.

But it's not entirely wrapped up yet; as the continued presence of RZK Constanta, Yauza and Teriberka attests.

I was hoping I'd get around to doing a full review in the next month or so, once the vessels had gone home - but anyway, just to highlight something: there were, since August, something like 6 or 7 other potential test windows, based on vessel/aircraft movements. Below just shows since September.

Here's a timelapse I've put together showing the departure of vessels from Matochkin Shar on 18-19 October, to take up their test monitoring positions, to their return, beginning on the night of 21 October.

I think that 2023 picture is actually from the video that was released ~2018

Looks like Turkey is doing this again - NOTAM issued for November 23/25/26.

It had become apparent to myself & @thelookout.bsky.social that there was Russian activity, possibly related to subsurface detection infrastructure, happening in the Barents Sea.

This is a map we did back in June of 2024, of selected AIS tracks.

It's great to see confirmation from journalists.

The previous Burevestnik test window is dead, long live the next Burevestnik test window. (23 OCT - 28 OCT)

Teriberka on the way again from Arkhangelsk.

Honestly though, I don't know if they're going to try again or not, we can only wait and see.

While the Landsat image above showed most of the aircraft on the ground at Rogachevo Air Base, it did not show them all.

And same Landsat pass appears to have caught another aircraft that is airborne, within the Q4385/25 NOTAM zone, adjacent to "Zone C".
October 21, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Monitoring vessels remain in position around the north island this evening.

Landsat pictured the monitoring aircraft on the ground at Rogachevo Air Base this morning at 08:24 UTC.

Teriberka may be making a return trip to Pankovo from Arkhangelsk.
October 21, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Strong rf interference patterns concentrated around Pankovo from Sentinel 1 SAR this morning.
October 21, 2025 at 8:08 AM
A nice racetrack contrail, west of Rogachevo Air Base, Novaya Zemlya, visible this morning in Sentinel 2 imagery.

However, I am not certain if this is from one of the test monitoring aircraft that is currently operating from Rogachevo.

The test monitoring vessels are in position.

To the west of Gribovaya Bay, it is possible to just make out a vessel heading south.

Possibly Sabetta, but *very* low confidence.
October 19, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Alas, cloud covered the pad in today's Landsat pass. Can just about make out RZK Constanta sitting in Matochkin Shar this morning, prior to heading north.

As you can see, the snow is returning & daytime temperatures are no longer getting over 5C, so I'd say conditions at Pankovo and at sea are fun.

Left out this White Sea GND-UNL NOTAM: Q4202/25
October 19, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Vessels appear to be beginning their migration from Matochkin Shar, northwards to monitoring positions, either side of the north island.

Current Burevestnik related NOTAMs cover out to 22 OCT.
