The 1884 Berlin Conference, the tensions leading to World War One, including Italy’s invasion of Libya and the Balkan wars - a consistent feature of politics at the time was jumping weaker areas or jumping weaker great powers!

I honestly think that a return to a multipolar world of late 19th century great power politics could be even worse. A dozen powers, each brutally repressing what they can control and trying to grab what they can from the others.

One of the many awful things about Ken Paxton is that he’s actively awful, so even if someone doesn’t know who he is, they’ll learn when he appears in the news for doing something that sucks.

John Cornyn is either going to live though a triumph and an embarrassment next year: either he triumphs over Ken Paxton and loses to the Democratic nominee, or Ken Paxton beats him in the primary and Cornyn gets to laugh as Ken Paxton gets smashed in the general election.
