Class of 20026 is exactly how long I'd have liked to stay in college.

Damn needing food and things.
in the newest Tufts Public Opinion Lab post, Miles Kendrick and Rachel Kuhn show that while Black Americans with college experience strongly support affirmative action, those without such experiences oppose it tufts-pol.medium.com/the-x-perien...

1. May 2021, 9 people shot in Washington Park. It's a mass shooting.

But nobody briefed the president, it didn't make the Today Show & the cable news shows. Probably not even TGIF the following Friday.

I wonder what's different between people living there & those visiting RI for Brown?

Another press conference today? Hopefully they don't skip the ASL interpreter like yesterday (or wasn't on WPRI).

W/ public outreach for info & misinformation, you'd think natural language is important

It has now been more than 100 hours since a shooter opened fire in a classroom at Brown University, killing two students and injuring nine others. As of this morning, law enforcement hasn’t identified any person-of-interest, recovered a firearm, or offered a motive in the case. As the manhunt continues, law enforcement said Wednesday they were trying to speak with a different person who they believe was in proximity to the person-of-interest prior to the shooting. They also released a new map that zones in on a residential area near the campus where they believe the person-of-interest may have walked both before and after the shooting. There is expected to be another press briefing with Mayor Brett Smiley and law enforcement at some point today, and we’ll have full coverage at Globe.com/RI. For now, lots of readers have also been asking for ways they can help support victims, students at Brown, and anyone assisting with the investigation. Obviously, if you have any information about the case or video footage might help law enforcement, you’re being asked to use the city’s official tip line at 401-272-3121 or fbi.gov/brownuniversityshooting. In terms of financial support, there is a Brown University Student Emergency Support Fund. GoFundMe also has a verified list of support pages related to the shooting. EveryTown for Gun Safety has also compiled a list of trauma-informed resources in Providence. Governor Dan McKee has focused a lot of efforts on mental health during this crisis, and here’s a list of certified community behavioral health clinics in Rhode Island. Finally, be kind to people. As my colleagues Anjali Huynh and Shannon Larson write, rumors, misinformation, and widespread fear are filling in gaps where we lack information about the shooter. And it’s dangerous.

It's weird to think this reflects accountability. Moving on and not having to deal with it seems more like avoidance.

Not sure many here know the difference. Probably the puritanical roots.
UPDATED: Adam Greenman, of Jewish Alliance of Greater RI, said “While we are glad to see that initial action has been taken and the superintendent has taken accountability, we are disappointed that this report did not conclusively address the underlying incident."

Stop linking affirmative action to discrimination. You are looking for different words to describe white men getting preferential treatment. Try racism or sexism. The things affirmative action rectifies.

Short. Pudgy. Around 30, Pro-gun and wearing a mask (likely) ironically. Probably mad at a system they don't understand.

I kinda hope someone has talked to Paul Rianna Jr. It's probably nothing, but due diligence and all.

This is called lying with statistics.

Volunteer hours are definitionally costless.

Taxes are a legal obligation; but if Brown broke the law, there could be more money.

Residency is established after a year; they're here because of the scholarship. That subsidizing higher housing demand/costs.

@danmcgowan.bsky.social essentially engaged in malpractice specifically citing RIF&T number but not the ORA's.

Someone should do an explainer of ~$6.50 difference. Particularly after the revelation of recent mismanagement. @rhodeislandcurrent.com & @nancyklavin.bsky.social could do the depth.

Can't wait to see how much the state lost providing tax credits.

Even after they had to admit the "controls" on the program were mismanaged to the tune of millions of dollars.

Turns out a state job site launched... but it's not at ApplyRI as written and incorrectly noted as linked.

And when using various state links (DLT or Div. of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) I still got sent to the old site. Maybe it's a cookie problem. But maybe link the new site?
30 hours after relaunch, still nothing.
