Empathy. Without it we are mechanical, cold & behave in an inhumane fashion. To understand and share another's feelings demonstrates a level of emotional maturity that evidently some do not possess.
Musk states "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy". Charles Darwin, who actually researched this stuff, showed it was empathy, specifically, that enabled humanity to flourish.

I hibernate to heal. I always know for sure that it WILL pass. My friends with clinical depression explained the difference is that they don't know for sure. One explained it feels like a heavy weight on their chest that will not lift. For them is it not hibernation; it's depression.
