@profcoe.bsky.social and Raj Chande at #REd25 There are a *small* number of teachers who we can currently say are statistically (with 95% confidence) better or worse than average for student results… but even the ‘best’ teachers have individual classes who have negative progress, and vice versa!

I really enjoyed presenting at the Nurturing Great Teaching Conference with @evidencebased.education in Yorkshire. Terrific keynotes from @profcoe.bsky.social & @profkime.bsky.social. I’m really pleased delegates found the ‘What can senior leaders do to support middle leaders?’ sessions so useful 😊

I think this is the clearest and most authoritative explanation of attention and working memory I have seen. I'm not usually a fan of these diagrams, but the depth of explanation here is very rich.
Is the choice of red/green (which many people can't discriminate) a deliberate metaphor?

After good conversations with @eleanorrrlouise.bsky.social and @rlrossi64.bsky.social I now think the root EHCP problem is:

There are too many and lots shouldn't need them.

Some do need them and will drown if they are taken away.

We can't tell the difference between the two groups.

@profcoe.bsky.social says he likes the explicit mention of inclusion, focus on PD and requirement to share best practice in the proposed system.

BUT is concerned about the validity of judgements.

The consequences are disproportionate to the amount of control schools have in influencing judgements.

Bruce combines a deep understanding of the underlying research evidence, a close familiarity with everyday classroom practice, and the ability to distil what is actionable into concise, clear language. This combination is, to use his own words, genuinely powerful.”
