I’ve read lots on how Covid broke the social contract etc, but could part of the situation be that with parents working from home there’s less need to still send kids into school when under the weather?

In this podcast and recent blogs I’ve talked about how attention might be at the heart of issues that look on the surface to be about other things (e.g. working memory, comprehension, intelligence etc).

My school is oversubscribed and packed to the gills, to the point of being almost unsafe at times… and yet we’re still having crisis meetings about finances, in dilapidated classrooms.

@profcoe.bsky.social and Raj Chande at #REd25 There are a *small* number of teachers who we can currently say are statistically (with 95% confidence) better or worse than average for student results… but even the ‘best’ teachers have individual classes who have negative progress, and vice versa!
