I just got the best birthday present from DC Comics. I'm cleared to show you our new cover for the Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen hardcover collection! "Labor of Love" doesn't begin to describe this. Ten days of work! I hope it's as fun to examine as it was to draw. And yes, the book will include a key!

Perhaps this is an unfair (though random) comparison, but it strikes me that one major comics publisher is dominating the other when it comes to book design.

You can do this in clip studio easy - a cartoonist pal was showing me the perspective tool, was struggling with how to lay out the grid, and we went this route - draw the character how you want them, draw a little cube next to them, use that cube to establish your perspective. Figure first!
Hey, friends, try building your perspective around your figures rather than starting with a perspective grid, it's easier!

RIP Butch Guice. And very sorry to hear it. We only met glancingly at cons, but it was a real treat to collaborate with him on AQUAMAN. A big loss for comics today.
