Really interesting article, & this headline is fine. But the one I clicked said “The Science That Explains Why Soccer Players Are Wearing Eye Patches.” And then you get this quote in the piece: “I don’t have the scientific basis to explain certain things to you properly.”

Really good thread on #internationalstudents and public regionals.
My response to a @kairyssdal.bsky.social post about higher education as an export industry, and the role of international students. Pardon the extraneous “Harvard and Berkeley” at the end of the first post in the thread.
Over the past few decades, minimally selective public research universities (regionals) have become more dependent on foreign full-pay students. This is due in part to cutbacks in state appropriations that make foreign full-pay students very desirable in balancing the budget. Harvard and Berkeley.
