This ballot made choices and uhh…they are confusing ones.
Ballot #72 is from Henry Schulman. Jimmy Rollins picks up a vote and moves to +3. Yet another gain for Félix Hernández - he’s at +16 and has flipped 39.0% of last year’s no-votes in addition to picking up all 11 first-time voters so far

It’s interesting to me that I can’t remember the last baseball HOF ballot that I didn’t want to vote for more than 10 people (including this one).

Was busy with a sick toddler yesterday but obviously a travesty in the AL MVP race, driven by petty AL West voters upset their teams didn’t play as well as Seattle did.

I like Big Dumps/and I cannot lie/all you Mariners can’t deny/when Cal walks to the plate and destroys a pitcher’s fate/you get SPRUNG

How could anyone be baking banana bread when Cal Raleigh is getting screwed out of an MVP by bWAR?
You really don’t need to scold total strangers like this every time you see a post that isn’t about whatever pet issue has driven you to poster’s madness. It helps nothing and no one. Posting is not praxis.

Honestly the crazy part here is of course the 2001 Athletics finished 14 games back in their division.
Teams who won 25 games of any 29-game stretch of any of the last 70 regular MLB seasons:

1977 Royals
1983 White Sox
1984 Tigers
1990 Mets
1998 Yankees
2001 Athletics
2002 Athletics
2013 Dodgers
2017 Dodgers
2017 Indians
2022 Dodgers
2023 Braves
2025 Brewers

Haven’t done my controversial just for clicks posts (AKA all my posts) for a while. So here goes:

The Lakers should immediately forfeit the 2002 NBA title
Kids are good therefore more kids are more gooder
“We don’t talk about Bruno” should have lost Miranda a Grammy
Griffey’s dWAR is too low.

1 year old was playing with a toy so I stepped out of the room to get a drink. 1 year old followed me to make me come back and watch her.

Finally watched “The Acolyte”, and while it’s obviously a hundred times better than “Andor” I thought it was interesting that Andor’s last 3 episodes were by far the best, while The Acolyte’s last episode was its weakest.

I don’t really post much because really, who needs my thoughts, but it’s very tempting to sometimes just pick 3-4 of my controversial sports and cinematic takes, then post relentlessly on them for the clicks.

To clarify: not super weird. One is a state crime, one is federal. One has been trying to get the death penalty for years but the victims’ families begged him to just end the prosecution.
Huh, weird

This is fascinating to me because my alma mater has only women’s rifle (due I assume to Title IX reasons).
today in Gender and Sports: at the NCAA rifle championships, one of the few NCAA sports not separated into men's and women's championships, female shooters won both individual championships and 5/6 medal spots. a lone Braden reached the podium alongside them

Ok but at some point we need to ask why everything trends to capitalism except areas with mass famine.
I come from the sports industry where none of us believe in altruistic billionaire owners no matter what bullshit they’re selling. It’s all capitalism and they’re all in it to amass as much $ and power as possible with varying degrees of conscience. You hope for Steve Cohen but might get Dan Snyder.
I can’t stop thinking about the Silicon Valley tech journalists who gave Musk and Zuck and the rest passes forever to protect their access or to keep getting products to review before they hit the market or whatever.

A good post but somehow I read it three times trying to figure out what kind of off-the-field issues Rod Carew had (he had none, it’s Pete Rose who did)

The platonic ideal of “Hall of Very Good” but this being the NBA I assume he’s a first ballot HOF.
FROM SHAMS:

After 16 NBA seasons, four-time All-Star Paul Millsap has retired from basketball. Millsap, the No. 47 pick in the 2006 NBA draft, spent his career with the Jazz, Hawks, Nuggets, Nets and 76ers. One of eight players all-time with 500 3-pointers, 1,000 blocks and 1,000 steals.

NL definitely made the only obviously wrong choice on ROY but I knew it would so…
