This is how religious radicals take over in the United States.
“I’m sure you’re aware of our connections with the Trump Administration,” the North Carolina Republican Party's communications director wrote in an email response to us. “I would strongly suggest dropping this story.”

We didn't. Read the story that he wanted dropped:
“Biblical Justice, Equal Justice, for All”: How North Carolina’s Chief Justice Transformed His State and America
Paul Newby, a born-again Christian, has turned his perch atop North Carolina’s Supreme Court into an instrument of political power. Over two decades, he’s driven changes that have reverberated well be...

The problem is Barr drew the line at doing a coup for him and that's now a disqualifier. Thins out the pool quite a bit, which is how you get an attorney general with zero prior federal experience.
I forgot where I first heard or saw it but someone pointed out: look at the way this coverup is being conducted compared to how a different Trump attorney general completely ratfucked the mueller report

Next time, hire the Iran Contra coverup man
I think the only way this wasn’t going to be a big thing is if Trump were smart enough to not hire people (like Bondi) who were loudly promising to expose Epstein collaborators (like him!)

One of the dirtiest men to live thought Trump was dirty! I mean how dirty do you have to be to have Epstein think you're dirty?

The newly released Epstein documents show the late sex offender called Trump's business practices "dirty" and exchanged emails with Andrew about the allegations against him.

President Trump is...using pardons to inoculate criminals he happens to like, downplaying corruption and fraud as crimes, and seeking to stigmatize political opponents by labeling them criminals.

Scaling back U.S. instruments of soft power, like USAID, is unilateral disarmament. It reduces our ability to compete for influence globally and creates vacuums for Russia and China to fill.

America’s strength isn’t rooted in power alone, but in our allies across Europe and around the world. Weakening those ties weakens us. In a world of rising authoritarianism, partnerships remain one of our greatest strategic advantages.
