BRING BACK THE WORLD FAIR
Spoken from a beloved historian and 40th Ward resident! Let's get rid of the air and water show and replace it with something else that will bring equal amounts of hospitality industry money and and less environmental and sound pollution!
What with the specter of the military terrorizing Chicago being an actual possibility, hearing fighter jets boom overhead is no longer merely a nuisance. It's trauma. Time to end the Air & Water Show, or limit it to the actually charming and entertaining stunt pilots, wing-walkers, and such.

The judge previously forbade federal agents from using tear gas or other “riot control” weapons against people who pose no immediate threat and without two warnings during the immigration campaign. However, that order was set to expire at 11 a.m. Thursday.

the full scope of people disappeared is likely much larger but is obscured by heavy criminalization, social stigma, and fewer eyes and phones around to bear witness.

Safe to say these court orders are not doing much to protect immigrants in Chicago. Court orders don't mean anything if they are not followed and if there is no enforcement when they're not followed.
