Some nice thoughts here. Of course Meselson and Stahl (my personal favorite) make an appearance, as well as Nirenberg and Matthaei and many others. If you need inspiration today to keep plugging along (which I do!), this is for you.

CAN LLMs write about science? @science.org decided to find out, and they did it the curious, scientific way. They did an experiment.

Just a fundamental misunderstanding of how the scientific method works: It's not that someone *disagrees* was theory or finding and then argues with it, it's that you've got data that doesn't align and you go from there. Science isn't really about agreement or disagreement in an emotional sense.
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

The premise of generative AI is that so much has been written, painted, drawn, and composed that we no longer need to make anything new and can be happy with regurgitations of everything from here on out.

New York Times editorial board has compiled "a list of 12 markers of democratic erosion." www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

This is what "not the odds, but the stakes" was all about.

During the 2024 campaign, those 12 markers could have been in place and operating to guide news coverage everywhere.
