Like Obama's Trump jokes at the WHCA dinner, Biden excluding Musk from his EV event is sometimes used to explain Musk's politics.

That's silly, Biden was right to exclude Musk. But Biden was wrong to include Trump aligned car companies instead of ebike manufacturers.

This machine kills fascists.

among other things, makes an overwhelming argument against growing corn to feed to cars

Politically, right wing millionaire farm owners are profiting by selling wasteful corn ethanol to drivers, akin to right wing millionaire dealership owners pushing ICE vehicles that need expensive maintenance

Thought of a better example, unfortunately after they deleted.

Children 44" or more nominally pay full fare. So a two parent family with two kids in middle school going to lunch together somewhere too far to walk would pay $24 round trip!

Cities should be for kids not cars.
Since this person is cursing and not learning anything about how much transit costs, maybe somebody else will see this

1-As relevant as their example of a solo trip across NYC, is a car with four occupants driving a few miles in Brooklyn for pennies worth of gas instead of $12 in fares

framing support for new subways as opposition to Mamdani's fast and free bus plan is the transit version of left-NIMBYism.

Massive public housing construction could be great but it's not on the table and it's a bad reason to endlessly criticize the few politicians who want more urban housing.

Good to see more enforcement against criminals avoiding sales tax on luxury cars, even better when it's a car dealership

Walser Automotive charged with tax evasion in alleged scheme to sell new cars as used
Walser allegedly avoided paying around $350,000 in state sales taxes for vehicles brokered through Montana shell companies.

Related to the chat about political views of housing developers, some broader points about wealthy people. They are

1) likely to vote conservative for tax reasons,
2) more likely to run or invest in businesses,
3) government regulation should push investment towards eg housing over betting

What is your favorite media about Minneapolis?

For me, it's the "It Could Happen Here" podcast episodes about Minneapolis.

Sharing seems more productive than reacting directly to this news.
Okay so unfortunately I’ve been removed from rapid response networks, at least in my immediate area. I think even alerting you of this would be deemed a violation of principles but given how much I’ve talked about it I do feel the need to say what’s up.

#teslatakedown has been effective. It can't get everyone, but if folks hurt the whole market by putting off new car purchases, go from 2 to 1 car, etc, then Tesla's weakness would be catastrophic.

More than half its profit came from emissions credits as sales fell 8.6 percent.

a myopic focus on polls is counterproductive when an opposition party should be making an affirmative case to voters that they want to help non-voters. Kids are going to die from measles because they don't vote, drivers keep killing pedestrians who disproportionately don't vote, and migrants

The US will become infamous among rich countries for gas cars the same way as we're known for guns now.

It's not just that they're more deadly. It's also because they represent an unhinged far right constituency (car dealership owners, oil companies) riling up the worst voters, as bad as the NRA.
Big moment for Europe: in December, fully electric cars outsold petrol-only cars in the EU for the first time.

This shows that clear, consistent policy works. Which is exactly why backtracking now would be a mistake. Rolling back targets or creating uncertainty would slow investment and innovation.

Wearing a mask alone can be uncomfortable in the same way as riding a bike or taking a bus in a car centric society, and that reflects the power you have to change expectations, for the benefit of people who need those.
