The budget vote is set for tonight at 6:45 PM.

NDP interim leader Don Davies hasn’t yet indicated how his party’s MPs will vote. If a sufficient number of them vote against the budget and it fails to pass, a snap election would be triggered.

How do you expect the NDP MPs to vote?

According to this poll, only 53% of *right-wing Canadians* want the CPC to keep Poilievre as its leader 💀

🚨 Let’s be clear: Pierre Poilievre wants to WASTE your hard-earned taxpayer dollars on foreign aid to Israel (as they are committing a genocide in Gaza and have illegal settlements in the West Bank), and on projects that hurt the environment in the middle of a climate crisis

🚨 BC Greens leader Emily Lowan wants British Columbia to adopt a Proportional Representation system with regional ridings where MLAs would be elected based on % of support their party receives in their regional riding 🗳️

What are your thoughts on this idea?

🚨 The world’s 10 strongest democracies (according to The Economist’s Democracy Index) all elect their representatives through Proportional Representation

If we want to improve our democracy here in Canada, we NEED Proportional Representation!

An organizer, advocate, and strategist, Emily has spent over a decade fighting for climate justice, Indigenous solidarity, and democratic renewal.

BREAKING 🚨 The University of Waterloo will not renew its partnership with the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, following a referendum in 2024 in which 83.9% of participating undergraduates voted in favor of ending the collaboration.

Mark Carney isn’t “rewarding Hamas” by recognizing the state of Palestine, he is rewarding the millions of innocent Palestinians who are dealing with an illegal occupation and genocide by the Israeli government and who simply want peace, freedom & self-determination

According to Éric Grenier’s chart, 68% for Marit Stiles is supposedly the lowest leadership review result since the 2000s for an NDP leader who has received over 50% of the vote

BREAKING 🚨 International students enrolled at a private college have alleged that they were compelled by the institution to campaign for the Conservatives in 2024

Poilievre needs to be clear to Canadians: does he condemn what happened, or not?

🚨 Trump falsely calls Mamdani a “communist” while highlighting a flaw in the current FPTP voting system by urging candidates to drop out to prevent vote-splitting

Very interesting. Seems like a good amount of Americans support Proportional Representation
Most voters also say that single-member districts are unfair to the minority party in deep red/blue states. We asked if voters would support a system that allocated House seats by party proportional to the share of the vote they win statewide, and 46% said yes (27% no).

The federal government has again raised the prospect of expanding the parliament. In today's post I take a look at how long redistributions take, and how they take longer now than they did in 1984, so if they want to move on parliamentary expansion they need to do it asap.
Act now to expand the parliament
There’s been a lot of talk about expanding the size of Australia’s federal parliament in the last few years. Some of us have been talking about this for a lot longer, but it has seemed …

The NDP needs to pressure the Carney government to implement a Proportional Representation system for the next federal election (which can include a ranked ballot too, such as Jenkins-Baaj MMP or the Single Transferable Vote)

Then he’ll likely cry that they’re splitting the vote lol

If Tom Suozzi wants the USA to have a multi-party system, he should support the Fair Representation Act (which would implement STV) & advocate for Proportional Representation

The fossil fuel lobby doesn’t just influence politics, it recruits it. MPs and senior advisers leave Parliament and walk straight into oil and gas boardrooms and lobby groups. That’s how industry keeps writing the rules as Australia faces the climate crisis.

Poilievre will need to adjust his tone and style if he wants to improve his chances in the next federal election.

If he keeps relying on insults, constant aggression, and fear-mongering, it could backfire. Most Canadians don’t want someone overly combative representing them
