Sussex Wildlife Trust @sussexwildlife.bsky.social gains important legal victory over harmful dredging.

I just love the word 'quashed'.

Well done SWT! I hope other WTs will take similar challenges.

We love a wholesome trend💚

Things I did today instead of doomscrolling:

1~Made a plan to walk with a friend
2~Watched autumn leaves from the window
3~Stopped to watch a Grey Wagtail on a roof
4~Put a dish of water out for wildlife
5~Read my new copy of Wild Sussex magazine 😉

To see these beeflies, Australoechus sp, flying around in the Fynbos, SA, has to be 1 of my life’s highlights

Many were buzzing around Micrdon capitatus, the heady catstailbush - a rare endemic to this region. Rare because of habitat loss (land clearance) & invasive species.

This was such a cynical attempt by Natural England and could have had far reaching implications for many NGOs - thank goodness they have lost. Kudos to Wild Justice, the Badger Trust and their legal teams. Important win for wildlife and conservationists and groups everywhere.
Natural England tried to price us out of taking legal action against Badger culling but it backfired when the High Court threw out NE's claim ⚖️

We continue. Substantive legal challenge against NE Badger cull licences takes place in December 🦡

It’s #BogDay and this time last year, the Flow Country became the first peat bog in the world awarded World Heritage Site status 🎉

I've tabled two crucial amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill: enforcing an “overall improvement test" or — if govt keep weakening nature protection — striking out Part 3 so they have to rewrite it. Report Stage is in June; the govt must fix the issues with this Bill before then.
