There’s a nonzero chance you will die from a cancer that could have been curable because people who couldn’t pass 7th grade biology and are scared of things like “mRNA” and “riboflavin” and “walkable cities” decided to make their ignorance everybody else’s problem
Over 120 mRNA cancer trials are now at risk as the Trump admin cuts funding & tells researchers to scrub “mRNA” from grant proposals.

What started as COVID fearmongering is now derailing life-saving cancer research.

Hope remains - but scientists say time is running out.

Remember how the oil companies promoted recycling to blame the consumers for all the plastics pollution.
RFK Jr: "This administration wants to encourage Americans to take control of their health -- to eat right, to have lifestyle changes that save us all. And that's the patriotic thing to do, not only for our country but for every individual American. It's a patriotic duty to keep ourselves healthy."

Realizing the possibility of a better future is always harder than accepting the current reality. But doing hard things is often worthwhile, especially when there are numerous positives, like safer streets for all users.
Something we talk about in "Life After Cars" is that in 1975 the traffic fatality rate in the Netherlands was 20% *higher* than in the US. Today, the traffic fatality rate in the Netherlands is more than 60% *lower* than in the US.
US kids are 15x more likely to die by gun, and 2.5x more likely to die by car than kids in the OECD 18 countries.

All while their health is deteriorating in other ways.

I have a degree in Economics but I don’t fixate on GDP. In America, when we build a massive freeway, buy a car, fill it with gas, crash it, repair it, and treat the associated injury and cardiopulmonary disease…that all adds to GDP. But what did it buy us?

3️⃣ Job Loss — Fewer clinics, especially in rural areas.
4️⃣ Weaker Public Health — Less funding for services
5️⃣ Higher State Taxes or Service Cuts

Public lands belong in public hands. Call your Senators to block this robbery from the American people.
🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.

Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invested €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it wastes public money to NOT do it.

You don’t have to be a “cyclist” to support safe bike infrastructure in your city. You don’t have to ride bikes at all. You just have to understand the FACT that bike infrastructure makes getting around easier & safer for EVERYONE, saves us all public money, & makes cities generally more successful.

Global health initiatives are an investment in America’s health future. In a warming climate, infectious diseases will become more common. Reinvesting in the WHO and USAID programs should be an obvious choice.

Even if you (wrongly) believe that some immigrants lack due process rights, what’s to stop the government from claiming that *you* are an undocumented immigrant; removing you to El Salvador; citing an “administrative error”; and refusing to do anything to bring you back?

The answer is due process.

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development

The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

The best transportation plan is a great land-use plan. But too many cities still let flawed traffic modelling actually prevent smarter land-use decisions, resulting in what I call the “sweet spot of failure” — enough density to cause all those local traffic problems, but never enough to solve them.
