New and old, big and small

Organizations and brands can choose their quadrant. It's tempting to want the best of all four, but it's going to take effort and focus. All of these terms are relative choices, not absolute judgments. Where does your offering fit in?

Enrico Fermi found a paradox: If there's intelligent life on other planets, why haven't we heard from them yet? Perhaps the answer is this: Any civilization sufficiently advanced to travel great distances will have to work in community. This pro-social behavior, combined with the tech they develop, will inevitably lead to some sort of social media. And once social media arrives, the civilization will struggle to survive.

How did we meet? What were we doing when we shifted from acquainted to friends? Who else is in our circle? How do we make space for each other and how do we dance together toward our center? You've shown me who you really are, and I trust you enough to share my dreams and fears. I know the sound of your laugh before you even start laughing and you remember things about me that I sometimes forget about myself.

No time?

It's easy to announce that we don't have time for a new skill or a generous act. But the truth is we probably could find the time. What we don't have is energy or motivation. Find that and you'll probably find the time.

We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.
Attacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani win
Openly racist rhetoric has become normalized at the highest levels of American politics.

The Beatles changed music. Starbucks changed coffee. Perhaps your project is aiming to reach a large audience. Consultants call it market share. What percentage of the available market have you reached with your idea? No one hits everyone, but many organizations seek to be a monopoly, or perhaps noticeable in scale. This flies in the face of embracing the smallest viable market.

Supreme Court grants DOGE access to confidential Social Security records
The order, for now, overturns actions that limited DOGE's access to sensitive private information. In a separate case, the court said DOGE did not have to share internal records with a watchdog group.
