We can all celebrate that the #Pawtucket & Central Falls Transit Center and @mbta-cr.bsky.social stop finally has bathrooms for passengers, @ripta.com drivers, & everyone else. Safe, clean bathrooms are a baseline for civilization. But we also need reliable, fast #PublicTransit 🚌 💙 #FundRIPTA

Facilities like these underscore the importance of public transit and its users, as elected leaders each reiterated in remarks prior to cutting the ribbon. 🧵

🚌❌But the reality remains that the impacts of the largest bus service cuts in RIPTA’s history, enacted last fall, are devastating for riders & drivers.

We will be back at the State House to fight for real long-term investments in transportation funding every week this session! ###

🚌 100+ attendees packed the State House Library for the event. Save RIPTA released a 14 page report detailing the impacts on service in the months following the largest cuts to service in the agency’s history.

Urging Rhode Island State Senators & Representatives to fully fund RIPTA so service cuts can be restored. 🙏🏻 Winter weather is here, and service cuts have resulted in many bus routes running less often. Riders are left waiting longer in freezing temperatures. TRANSIT IS ESSENTIAL!! 🚌

2025 was brutal for US transit. Agencies faced budget deficits, flat ridership, and open hostility from the White House.

I wrote a series of stories outlining ways to help transit endure.

Big news from leadership that understands the vital economic connection and untapped potential of transit between Fall River and PVD & Newport.

We congratulate @massgovernor.bsky.social for doing more to expand public transit in Rhode Island than anything our own Governor has done in four years.
