On Veterans Day, we honor those who served and commit to serving them in return — not just in words, but in actions.

Affordability and a real commitment to mental health are essential to ensure that every veteran can build a future here in New York City.

The more we learn about Zohran Mamdani's upbringing, the clearer it becomes that he owes everything to his connected, well-to-do parents.

by A.G. Sulzberger, Andrew Cuomo, Bill Ackman, and Donald Trump, Jr.

It's pretty telling that he expects to have a conversation with him about "what's rhetoric and what's policy".

He's used to politicians lying to the public to get elected but being truthful with the elite.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

I was shocked when I leaned that the MTA Chair makes more than the president of the USA make the same amount. And that the president of the Central Park Conservancy makes over twice as much as both.
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

I truly don't get why the "he'll work in his admin" was an idea. The dude's a politician, with a core constituency, not a civic professional.

Yes he's smart, he comptroller, but he's first and foremost *a politician*. NY10 should have always been the plan.
This is a bit like saying opening an umbrella likely means it will rain. Lander is running for Congress in part because he doesn't have a job in the Mamdani administration, not the other way around. www.crainsnewyork.com/politics-pol...

NEW: Voters didn’t just elect a socialist mayor in New York City.

They also voted in progressive candidates in several of the state’s largest cities, flipped county legislatures blue, and chose a new Democratic assemblymember in US Representative Elise Stefanik’s backyard.

Working Families Party–backed candidates flipped county legislatures, won big-city mayoralties, and secured an Assembly seat in Elise Stefanik’s backyard.

"Zohran won a history victory! Now that he won, he needs to abandon every single promise he made if he wants to be effective" is a crazy take.
i try not to be hyperbolic but this NY daily news editorial board piece saying mayor-elect mamdani better support israel OR ELSE is one of the most appalling things i’ve ever read

Once again: right wing Democrats are a bigger threat to us than Republicans.

We NEED to kick these people out of the party. Even if it means losing some seats. We have a super majority; we can afford to lose some seats.
Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

I still find it remarkable that the Queens Democratic Party refused to endorse Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic mayoral nominee who currently represents western Queens.

Every other Democratic county party in NYC – Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, even Staten Island – endorsed Mamdani.
