behind every #adoption is a catastrophe. I believe that in our culture it is taboo to speak of the horrendous trauma of relinquishment. It is a moral crime that our society has built whole institutional systems—legal, criminal, and economic—to corner human beings into relinquishing their children.
I've known many women who relinquished a child. It was not what they wanted to do. Keeping her child usually meant/means poverty, social stigma for her and her child, and complete lack of support. Does that sound like a real choice?

the relation of parent to child is one of stewardship, not ownership. but #adoption is designed to confer legal parenthood through the issuing of false birth records, which give the adopters permanent ownership of the adoptee's identity. why can't adult adoptees legally emancipate themselves?

pregnant persons who may envision themselves incapable/unable to raise their child for myriad reasons are sometimes offered an "open adoption" as an inducement to "put up their baby up for adoption" -- there is no remedy for breaching an open adoption agreement

#AdoptionReunion 36+ years into our reunion. Even though we text every day, we haven't seen each other in 8 years. I'm headed to the airport in a few minutes to pick her up! I'm so excited!

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!
