I drove to Bodega Bay yesterday from Davis to distribute my mum's ashes next to where we spread my dad's. It was a bad day to choose -- Veterans' Day crowds were massive. Noticed a lot of people fishing in the Bay. It looked like some kind of contest. Then it hit me: people are starving.

@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social thank you for your important (and beautiful!) book, Orwell's Roses, and thank you especially for including irascible Orwell's instructions on tea, which I'm happy to report I follow to the letter apart from 6 teaspoons for a quart pot (I use 2, but it's very strong tea).

This election outcome was literally the entire goal of Citizens United - just took them a little while to ramp up and position themselves
This would also be a REALLY good moment for folks to get a lil’ refresher on the Citizens United decision of 2010, which has had the entirely predictable imPACt of making this a country now run by people that billionaires have purchased to do their bidding.
Left of center folks are getting angrier at each other for losing instead of getting angry at Republicans for lying and demonizing their way to victory. They think they lost rather than Republicans won. That bodes ill.
