"Player who does not pay attention may be confused," has been a problem forever, but our modern age makes distraction easier and high-level folks especially scared of any friction. I believe in getting information flow right, but the "please handhold more" directions I got were rough sometimes.
You wanna know why we're having nag line discourse in 2025? Because developers know we're fighting an attention economy war we'll lose no matter what. Players don't read, have TikTok open next to them, god forbid we are scared you miss something and then blame us for not giving you all the info.

Randomly remembered that we had a meeting about this on the council, so delivering the Goods™️ 🧵

- Emmrich: "Early to mid 50s" (Sylvia later said she changed it to mid 60s based on his character model I think?)
- Lucanis: "Mid 30s"
- Neve: "Early 30s"
- Davrin: "Mid 30s"
- Lace: "Late 20s"
Although my first Rook romanced Harding but Lace is likely in her 30s. I forget all the supposed ages for the DA:TV companions.

Again, old enough that I remember discourse that DA and ME also took away from previous Bioware games like Jade Empire and Kotor...

So I'm just like... idk. Just remember that we're all on this sinking ship, even if ME5 is coming out.

There's a lot of sloptubers out there, who do minimal effort content but also some horrible extremist weirdos with a lot of clout, who are impressionable to young people, too.

Then there's TwitchCon, which looks like absolute Hell.

I've been prone to talk defensively about games that have been unfairly targeted. Dragon Age The Veilguard, for example. The combat was enticing every single time, the dialogue was great, especially the banter and conversations. The story wrapped impeccably. And I'm tired of talking as if it wasn't.

With EA's buyout- its totally ok to be sad about IPs being in trouble, but also remember that hundreds of good people are now fearing mass layoffs right now. Part of the deal included EA being responsible for BILLIONS in debt and thats not going to be at the cost of Wilson's yacht collection.

Oh AND here's an INTERESTING bit:

Deals like this TAKE YEARS.

Sheds a new light on EA not only giving Veilguard little marketing & laying off devs BEFORE launch but ALSO AXING IT like a couple months after launch.

Because THOSE investors REALLY won't want ANY "woke" in their ongoing franchises.🤐

EA: Mmhmm, mmhmm, mostly guns and football, yep.

Buyers: No gay stuff? No politics we're not going to like?

EA: Haha, definitely not! Hey, could you give me one sec? I just need to shut down a studio real quick.
