Just gonna throw this out there that no book is more prescient for the times we face. It’s not hyperbole to say that the similarities to right now are chilling. You won’t vote your way out of this with a spineless opposition party and this is going to end very badly for many, many people.

Joseph Southall's portrait (1902) is of his mother Elizabeth Baker. Southall trained at the Birmingham School of Art which pivoted around William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones, he had been sensitised since childhood to art's role as a weapon against Victorian utilitarianism.
