Billy Haas took home $11.4 million when he won the Tour Championship in 2011 — $1.4m for the event and $10m for being first in FedEx points. Tommy Fleetwood won $10m for winning the FedEx Cup 14 years later. Makes no sense. This event is all about $$$, not prestige, and the $$$ has gone down?

What a crock. Pandemic would have been so much worse in the USA if not for work NIH and others were doing, and had been doing for decades. Read the non-partisan book “Abundance” for anecdotal proof.

I am working out of a public library and there are a good number of people who seem to be on hard times using the facilities for various reasons like job searching, entertainment, charging peripherals, using the bathroom, etc., and I am struck by how important it is that libraries continue to exist

Keep your eye on Cubs pitching prospect Jack Neely. He’s tall and combines easy heat w/nasty breakers. Struck out two of three in an inning against the Dodgers. He could develop into an impact guy in the bullpen.

The addition of Justin Turner should give the Cubs a small bump to 91 wins in Baseball Prospectus’ Pecota rankings (from 90.6 previous). Nobody else in the NLC projects to more than 80.6 (Brewers). Terry Francona should be the only thing keeping Craig Counsell up at night.

John Cazale, who played Fredo Corleone, died of cancer at 43, six years after “The Godfather” was released. He acted in five films, and they were all nominated for Best Picture. That’s almost hard to believe. So impressive. So sad he was lost so young.
