Drawbar drama this #ADoorAbleThursday, from the charming castle of Huntingtower in Perthshire 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. On the inside, a mural stair passage has been robbed, revealing the deep passage of the drawbar.

The drawbar slot is usually hidden in the thickness of the wall, but is exposed here because the walling next to it has been hacked through at a later date.

I've decided that this year I will finally visit a few of the places I have always wanted to see but never quite got round to. So tomorrow I am heading off to Dorchester for a couple of days, mostly to see this...so it really will be a #HillFortsWednesday for me!
An aerial view of Maiden Castle, a huge Iron Age hillfort on the outskirts of Dorchester. Its earthworks feature several ditches and embankments around a flat central enclosure.

Frances H. Gearhart (1869-1958) is considered a pioneer of color printmakers in the USA. Gearhart obviously loved the California landscape. No other artist working in color block prints has ever done a better job of portraying both its serene and stark beauty, its images finely drawn and striking.
