Pinned
I’ve been playing about with creating new feeds this week.

This one should show gig pictures (as long as someone uses the word gig in their post).
Have a try and pin it if you think it might be of interest, the more feed options the better I’m finding.

TIL that if you search for a font on Google, the search results are shown in that font. (Probably only works for classic fonts.)

21. The Boo Radleys - Lazarus

Why Lazarus? It’s that spacey intro that keeps building until an organ roll ushers in the horns and suddenly all the music in the world is happening at once - then they cut the switch for an acoustic guitar, slightly distorted vocals and those harmonies.

20. Beetlebum - Blur
single & Blur
1997

I’ve never been a huge Blur fan but have liked a lot of their singles, and this is the best for me, particularly the extended coda. Still amazed it made no.1 in the charts.

This is very accomplished indie from a 16 year old, Keith’s son Sam.
Worth having a listen 👇

I might know this guy. He hangs around my flat quite a lot.
Seriously though..a first single at 16. Very proud. Please share if you like it

21. In Your Room - Depeche Mode
Songs Of Faith And Devotion
1993

A brooding intense song from DM from their 4th classic album in a row. The sound of me studying for actuarial exams in the evening in a small flat in Glasgow (Anniesland for those who know the area).

DREAMS BURN DOWN (1990)
Ride

Another mini epic, a firestorm of scorched-earth guitars, monolithic drums and lyrical despair.

We fill up our days and nights
We fill up the gaps in our empty little lives
But we know that we are doomed

22. Perfume (all on you) - Paris Angels
single
1990

An indie-dance classic, can’t count on how many times I’ve danced to it at Bristol’s Kandi Klub (at ever changing venues from 90-92). Those opening synth pulses would have me running to the dance floor if not already on it.

23. Tina This is Matthew Stone - Prolapse
Pointless Walks to Dismal Places
1994

The song that grabbed my attention, with its motorik groove, piercing guitars, and twin (shouty) vocals. But this was only 2018 seeing friends attend the Moth Club gig. Now one of my favourite bands.

More than 11 million viewers for #TheCelebrityTraitors finale last night.

That's up three million on the previous episode, with iPlayer viewership still to come. Bloody hell.

24. A Night In - Tindersticks
Tindersticks [II]
1995

Lush orchestration, a smooth baritone, totally different and beguiling. This whole album is brilliant, the soundtrack of long walks with my newborn daughter in a pram around Govan, Ibrox and the surrounding area on a weekend.

Not my normal cup of tea, but I have a soft spot for this drum & bass / pop album, particularly Waiting All Night.

A magnificent piece of work. Comprehesive, revelatory & shocking. Journalism this good is always rare & precious but never moreso than at times like this. Latter day Lord Haw Haws being plumped, preened & delivered to your doorstep in plain sight by a Nazi-saluting goon
