Update: Jim Hautman has just won his 7th federal duck stamp contest, breaking his tie with brother Joe for the most wins in the competition’s history. Here’s our story about why he and his brothers are so good at what they do.
Ahead of this year’s federal duck stamp contest, which begins on Thursday, check out my new profile of the Hautman brothers, the Minnesota painters who together have won the prestigious competition a staggering 15 times. www.audubon.org/magazine/hau...
For The Hautman Brothers, the Secret to Duck Stamp Dominance Is All in the Family
The Minnesota painters have achieved unrivaled success in the federal government’s conservation-boosting art competition. They insist technical know-how has little to do with it.

TIL that some of the kids reading my novels have parents who are too young to remember 9-11.

I have never been so relieved to be old, male, white, cis, and childless.

After years of stressing out over who was which, I now choose to believe that Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds are the same person.

anytime i’m facing an especially hated or arduous task, i like to give myself a little treat beforehand to encourage myself to get it done. it’s called a ‘pre-ward’ and it absolutely does not work

yes exactly this which is why everybody gotta stop screenshotting twitter stuff and porting it over here. leave the dead to bury their dead
Yes. I miss the Twitter moment, and I'm glad it happened, but it's gone, and with it some folks I used to know there. Here on Bluesky I've met some other people who I like seeing and being with, along with some people I knew from Twitter and before. I'm in *this* moment, and I'm glad it's happening.
I’m at peace with the fact that not everyone I grooved with on X is coming over here - beginning with usenet, every online community has been its own thing and I’m fine with morphing and reforming connections. Kind of like real life before 1990.

My impression of Bluesky after having to (mostly) leave Twitter is that it’s kinda like what happens after a mass extinction event wipes out all dominant organisms and evolution goes into hyperdrive filling all the niches with new life. This might be the Benadryl talking

Yael is one voice I miss since leaving twitter. Wish she was more active here.
I hate meeting people who immediately start throwing riddles at me like "what do you do for fun" and "how are you"

Sometimes when I feel neglected I fear that people have gained access to secret thoughts I have that I would never intentionally voice.

In a former life I had a small (just me) marketing company. Our motto was Eyes Open, Hands On, No Blue Sky. It made sense at the time. Yet here I am.
