Bill Gates is a moron.

You don’t fill the aid funding gap by taking it from climate action. It will only increase the aid funding gap.

Bear with me - are swift bricks in every new building really what is needed?

Surely better to mandate for wildlife provision based on local ecological need. Yes, swift bricks grouped in appropriate buildings, but also bat and sparrow boxes, house martin & swallow roosts etc.
Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

📢 New paper out!

🌊 We discuss how well mechanisms of variability in the subpolar gyre are represented in climate models, finding that models that do this best are also the models in which abrupt shifts are found 😬.

It's a technical story, so here's a simple overview 🧵

Causal mechanisms of subpolar gyre variability in CMIP6 models
Abstract. The subpolar gyre is at risk of crossing a tipping point under future climate change associated with the collapse of deep convection. As such, tipping can have significant climate impacts; i...

Good article on the problem with @plaidcymru.bsky.social. I couldn’t vote for a party that aligns with those saying there is “no space for large-scale nature restoration in Wales” and is a servant to ecologically illiterate lobbying from the NFU. Do better @rhunapiorwerth.bsky.social
Plaid Cymru has no God-given right to the votes of people who care about nature. To deserve them they must reject the idea that to look out for farmers is to gut regulation and ignore Wales’ environment, because that is a lie ✍️ Eben Myrddin Muse

All this talk of energy costs…

Nearly a quarter of bills goes to private profit.

The grid upgrade will cost 1.7× more on a private than public model.

The privatisation tax no one talks about.

Fossil fuel engined cars with a plug are a particularly malevolent example of greenwashing. No surprises, surely?

This will damage climate action by reducing trust. People will feel conned. Something needs to be done, urgently.
