There is a direct line between Donald Trump trying to destroy the BBC and him excusing the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Trump hates the independent free press – whether in the US, Saudi Arabia or the UK. We will always defend it.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Interesting read
What skills do we most value in a trustee today?
As the professional trustee market evolves, so do the routes to trusteeship.

Ah the 1970s.

Stagflation, three day weeks, collapsing infrastructure. Civil War in Northern Ireland. In yer face racism and bigotry everywhere. Bin strikes. Strikes in general. Blackouts. Industrial decline. Wage inequality. Dog crap everywhere. And households spent 25% of their income on food.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

Saw this in the Guardian this morning. Required viewing - power to Norwich City for producing this video
‘We could be winning or losing – it doesn’t matter as long as we’re together’: the friendships forged on football terraces
It starts with singing, banter or enthusiastic goal celebrations – and leads to so much more. Six groups of fan friends share how they met

Not before time. A very positive step
All children to be taught financial literacy as part of curriculum review
Financial education is set to become compulsory for all primary school pupils in England as part of an overhaul of the national curriculum which will also see secondary level provision extended.

The red face test – how would you fare?
www.professionalpensions.com/opinion/4521...

Good article from Sackers here - Trustees put yourselves in the shoes of members
The red face test – how would you fare?
When things don't go our way, it's only natural that we want answers. To ask those in charge, how did this happen (or, more likely, how did you let this happen)?

Professional trustees – a long-overdue review
www.professionalpensions.com/opinion/4521...

This regulation is about trust and ensuring that the industry is acting in members' best interests. Independence gives trustees their authority and members their confidence.
This needs to be said more often
Professional trustees – a long-overdue review
The government’s decision to launch a consultation into the professional trustee market is very welcome. It’s long overdue.

Absolutely
I hope the BBC will challenge Nigel Farage today over the economic damage caused by the Brexit he championed.

He needs to be held to account for the damage he's done instead of always being given an easy ride.

Sad news - hoping for a full recovery
Michelle Agyemang will miss the rest of the WSL season after suffering a ruptured ACL injury playing for England against Australia 😢

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery - and that we then get to see her back on loan at Brighton in 2026-27 #BHAFC

Just hoping that one day soon, people will tire of targeting and terrifying asylum seekers and instead, they will turn on politicians who whip up hatred and division to grab at power for themselves…
They are the ones who are failing us.
Not these people.
Prejudice can never make anyone’s life better
Asylum seekers, housed in hotels in Manchester, are reaching out in their own words to address the concerns of the local community.

Please take a minute to read their letter, & share it with the people in your life who need to hear the truth about the people they are protesting.
