This Wood Ear mushroom is flipped inside out like how a dog’s ear does

Yeah I thought I'd live in Brooklyn too.
I really thought by this age I would have ten parrots and live on a boat in a mysterious lagoon and I would play operas to the parrots and they would all take wing, singing along, and the strange fish of the mysterious lagoon would rise to the surface, listening

I would definitely read the scifi novel where the baby struggles through the restricted birth canal and then POP! its head expands to contain the super big brain.
It would be a mildly amusing setup for a science fiction novel with satirical overtones but I would rather not be living it

oh yea haw are you?
real question: how are you the free labor vs abolitionist movements balanced? I have no expertise in these but I thought there was some correlation (not complete)
This was in political science but yes, Harvard UP would’ve had two anonymous reviewers, almost certainly also political scientists.

we're doing hot pot for new year's day! If chinese get a whole chicken and make a stock. If Japanese a dashi stock.

We gotta do a pescatarian too so that will be seafod shrimp skins , lobster body, clams. Could just be dashi but why not?
Doing a hot pot for New Year’s Eve. Decided too late to get one of the premade soup bases (some of them are actually quite good) so if anyone has a favorite hot pot soup recipe I’d enjoy seeing it.

I'd prefer a legal definition for a "freaking idiot"
In the old days of legal blogs there was a dude “Supremacy Claus” who showed up and frequently argued that the “reasonable person” standard was a religious concept, a statement of faith, the use of which violated the Establishment Clause.

I find this less ludicrous than I did as a younger man.
I often wonder if the definition of “reasonable person” could stand to be revisited in the age of social media.

Happy New Year
good god I am tired

fortunately this is one thing I don't have to do again
I went up to New Haven today and took care of a final mile problem leftover from the divorce, some stuff in storage that's been needing to be dealt with for years, and I'm exhausted and sore but extremely satisfied to finally have that shit over with

As someone who loses life force any time he’s not at the center of attention, Matt Gaetz appears to be struggling with the headline-induced infamy his expelled-colleague George Santos is enjoying now that he no longer has to pretend he’s not a total fraud.

and no one will be surprised when the suspension falls out
You know that game where people take turns writing a sentence, then folding over the paper so that the next person can't see what's there when they write *their* sentence, and when everyone is done you read the resulting "story"?

This looks as though it was designed by a similar process.
According to Russian media, the Moscow Polytechnic Institute has unveiled this "Tesla-killer" made-in-Russia electric vehicle, to be produced by Russian automaker Avtotor by 2025.

More convinced than ever that an anti-Roe conservative leaked the Dobbs draft to lock in the majority and make it impossible for them to defect.
