An essay for World AIDS Day and the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks's valiant act of resistance, an essay on quilts and solidarity, on stitching the fragments together.
Solidarity Stitches Us Together: Today, World AIDS Day, Is Also the 70th Anniversary of Rosa Park's Historic Protest
I saw two radically different versions of what a quilt could be yesterday and yet they spoke to the same issues. I caught the show Routed West: Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California ...

Last week someone made this point, a lot of money people (including tech) made a very clear, very calculated decision that authoritarianism, even a corrupt kleptocracy, was better for them financially than risking Dems doing a wealth tax/tax fairness etc. It was an eyes-wide-open choice.
Cuban explains why companies like Intel are happy to give fascists a cut. The wealthiest people in the country see it as a smaller sacrifice than what progressives are proposing in higher taxes.
I’m the furthest from a Trump fan. But the reality is that he would have to shake very hard to equate to the shakedowns of the unrealized cap gains tax and warren’s tax that were proposed.

My legislation to exempt from CEQA rapid bus, light rail, ferry, bike & pedestrian safety projects just passed a key committee.

We need to make it easier & faster to issue permits for & deliver public transit & other sustainable transportation projects. SB 71 will help do that.

LA's single-stair motion has been adopted!

And I very much appreciate these quotes from two moms of young kids on our council. More family-sized housing please!

Another option for cities that want interesting buildings is to have ornament and artwork to provide the detail, as an alternative to facade articulation where the walls shift in and out. I got this added into the design standards for North Berkeley BART housing.

I'm grateful to the Governor for identifying the entitlement process as a barrier to building housing – an issue that comes up repeatedly in my Select Committee on Permitting Reform. We must reduce costs, increase accountability, & remove barriers to development.
