Granted I’m a neophyte at this con law stuff, but why do the more conservative justices worry so much about presidential power while they seemingly care so little about Congressional power exercised with presidential blessing? And why is separation of powers formalism valued above flexibility?

remember, please.

the noise of evil in the world is always there.

it is noise. sometimes it is louder. sometimes less so.

but your job is to do good. be aware of the bad. but your job never, ever, changes.

do good.

The idea that the two shipwrecked Venezuelans were capable of “returning to the fight” would be an exception that swallows the rule, since all people in like circumstances could conceivably be rescued, recover from their injuries, and rejoin the “war.”

Graham: “and tell that guy you follow he’d better get on the right side of history, too.”
Lindsey Graham says the Pope better get on the “right side of history” and support Trump’s push to use military force to overthrow the government of Venezuela

Megan Kelly said Epstein was interested in the “barely legal” 15-year old girls. Wouldn’t it be closer to the truth to say he was interested in the barely illegal ones?

Two enthusiastic cheers for the ceasefire in Gaza, but crowing about peace in the Middle East has a bit of a “mission accomplished” feel ( for those who remember George W. Bush). Perhaps Trump can now work on peace in the Middle West.

Chicago mayor Richard J. Daley once famously said “the police aren’t there to create disorder, they’re there to preserve disorder.” For the Trump Administration, the federalized troops in Chicago are there to do both.

For some context the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly report in addition to being just a good read, to quote wikipedia, "is the main vehicle for publishing public health information and recommendations that have been received by the CDC from state health departments. "
BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

What we might refer to as a "Kavanaugh Stop"
WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status.

He was detained overnight and only released once a supervisor realized he had been illegally arrested.

The FDA statement ends with a paragraph undermining its own warning.

They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then:

No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism

AND

Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”

Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion.

Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.

U of MN’s Vaccine Integrity Project could be a great resource around which to build an upper-midwest health consortium.
1) Good news. (In the circumstances.)

2) Hey, VT, get moving!

3) How about IL/WI/MI/MN ?

4) Hey MD/DE, get started! And when (if?) Spanberger wins, VA too.

5) #4 will make room for DC.
IT'S OFFICIAL: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York State, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and New York City have formed the Northeast Public Health Collaborative.

The collaborative will issue their own vaccine recommendations and coordinate public health efforts.

The AP published a story yesterday that Putin had agreed to Article 5-like security guarantees from the US for Ukraine. Moreover, Putin would agree to Russian legislation that it would not threaten the security of Europe. These are meaningless guarantees, however. 1/2

Perhaps we’ll finally find out if a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich.
The DC sandwich guy has been charged with assault for shouting at a CBP officer, throwing a sub into his chest, and then running off.

"I did it. I threw the sandwich," he said while he was being processed.
