Bizarre. If Burke’s account of how he obtained the video is true, the government appears to have bought into the idea that it constitutes using “compromised credentials” to visit a publicly accessible URL that a company didn’t want to be publicly known.
How the f–– do federal prosecutors charge someone for “hacking” what’s publicly available? What next, tossing some of us in jail for using a raw resource address to download some Twitter video in, like, 2015?
Journalist Tim Burke Indicted For Leaking Tucker Carlson Clips That Embarrassed Fox News
The clips, which included unaired, antisemitic remarks by Kanye West, were published by Vice and Media Matters.

letting a little time pass between creation of the new thing + putting more energy into it.

questions i ask myself + think thru:

- do people want/need this?
- is it better than existing solutions?
- is TAM large enough to be economically interesting?

i do this all the time. it works.

Tomorrow will mark six months since the FBI seized my newsroom. They haven't returned it, or charged me with anything.
New: The Marion, KS newspaper raid was a coordinated law enforcement effort. Two journalists in Alabama were arrested for their reporting. An Illinois reporter was issued citations for asking too many questions.

Hey Rolling Stone (cc: @althea.bsky.social @noahshachtman.bsky.social) the reason you "obtained and reviewed" the lawsuit is because the filing is public (like basically all federal court filings), and you should link to it rather than pretending it's some secret document only you have access to...

🔨 I rebuilt my site from scratch! 🔨

I wanted to challenge myself to create my own blog from the ground up using minimal coding libraries. Admittedly, I’m having more fun building my blog than writing articles for my blog.

Someone told me that this app may seem very empty because of this default setting that requires replies to have 2 likes or more before they show up.

Indeed! I changed it so that all replies show up, and suddenly the place seems much more lively. I highly recommend changing it in your settings.

Politicians have figured out that the way to force through censorship measures is to put the word “kids” in the name of the bill. It is a shockingly effective way of stripping our rights.

I think what we need to do is weaponize Helen Lovejoy against these people.
So much annoying stuff happening with politicians these days. California is very likely to pass a very bad bill, SB 680, that pretends it's attacking kids and "social media addiction." But it's not. What it will do is hide important, life-saving information from the internet.
