When I lived in Santiago, they were building a line 6 station near my host family’s apartment. When my host mom told me it would be finished next year I said “well sure, but these things never finish in time, right?” She proudly told me that in Chile, they actually do.
Santiago de Chile has an ongoing expansion program for its metro that will add 75 (seventy-five!!) km to its network by 2033 for 7.3 billion USD.
It's like adding more than a second métro of Montréal-worth for 50% more of the projected cost of adding 6km to the blue line.

I’m perpetually mad that NYC land values are too high that it’s not viable to put a 20k-30k soccer stadium anywhere appealing.
If they did, great spot for a 30,000 seat soccer stadium.

It's funny how NYC has a zoning code of a couple thousand pages describing in meticulous detail what buildings can and can't look like, and how they can and cannot be used...but also an unwritten rule that certain businesses can just store cars on the sidewalk.

Crazy to require this huge sidewalk shed when the building is so far from the sidewalk. The only part of the facade that anybody will come close to is already protected by a canopy!
