PhD student @brownSPH. 🤓 Studying behavioral sciences, social epi, and medical decision making. Harm reduction, queer health, qual focused. NIDA funded diss focused on xylazine. 🏳️‍🌈 How do ppl meet their healthcare needs when they can’t access care?
Definitely a #phdjourney highlight for me to give @browncaas.bsky.social rounds yesterday! I presented 3 of my xylazine focused studies, two of which informed my dissertation work, and one that is included in my dissertation. Sort of felt like a dress rehearsal for my eventual defense!

Some Friday news! My NIDA F31 was reinstated this afternoon after being terminated last month!! This is such encouraging news, and I hope that other investigators whose work was illegally terminated soon receive the news that their work can continue!

Grateful to @sabs.bsky.social @defector.com for amplifying this termination. I am just one of a hundred + predocs whose NIH fellowship was wrongfully terminated this spring.

How did popcorn come to be so closely associated with watching a movie? The first theater to sell popcorn really changed the world with that one. 🍿 🎥 🤔

What breaks my heart about the attacks on the educational infrastructure for our youth - and in particular our youth with disabilities - is that a nation that does not ensure its children receive quality education is destined for dark days for generations

At least 12 universities now have hiring freezes and nearly 30 have cut PhD admissions this year

If you hear of other places you can add them to this google doc:
I created a brief spreadsheet of reductions I've heard of so far. Any additions you know of (especially if you have the links/receipts) would be great: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
