Definitely a #phdjourney highlight for me to give @browncaas.bsky.social rounds yesterday! I presented 3 of my xylazine focused studies, two of which informed my dissertation work, and one that is included in my dissertation. Sort of felt like a dress rehearsal for my eventual defense!

Some Friday news! My NIDA F31 was reinstated this afternoon after being terminated last month!! This is such encouraging news, and I hope that other investigators whose work was illegally terminated soon receive the news that their work can continue!

Grateful to @sabs.bsky.social @defector.com for amplifying this termination. I am just one of a hundred + predocs whose NIH fellowship was wrongfully terminated this spring.
I spoke with Patrick Kelly, a graduate student whose research concerns improving the lives of people who use drugs. Kelly's federal funding was taken away only because of his identity as an underrepresented student in science.

What breaks my heart about the attacks on the educational infrastructure for our youth - and in particular our youth with disabilities - is that a nation that does not ensure its children receive quality education is destined for dark days for generations
