This is just a passing fad. What auto consumers around the world really want are 10 ft tall pickup trucks that get 15 mpg and cost $50,000.
Every time I come to China I get more and more annoyed with how many interesting, well resolved choices in budget EVs they have that we don’t.

One storyline I'm low-key obsessed with: BYD's entry into Japan. Buyers there overwhelmingly favor Japanese brands, and "foreign" ones like Mercedes make up only ~5% of the market.
