The purpose of the pardon is to claim the violence of January 6 as sacred. That's not hyperbole--the movement frames it in explicitly religio-nationalist terms. It's--as absurd as this sounds--to add 2021 to the mythic chronology of 1776 and D-Day.

I'm 0% surprised about Dolan's presence. I doubt Francis will do much. Will we see the establishment of an American Catholic Church? Will it be conservative and aligned with the likes of Graham and not the more liberal Catholic Church that was once talked about?

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
