Hunger is a violation of basic human rights – we should be outraged by UK's food bank crisis.

Work doesn't pay. 38% of universal credit claimants are at work.

1% has more wealth than 70% of the population combined.

Must redistribute income/wealth. Tax the rich.

🧵 Whatever your views on assisted dying, I always assumed we’d all agree that the topic is ethically fraught & complex.

Not so Matthew Parris.

For him, it’s simple.

Earlier this year, he argued that old & frail people *should* be killed - to save society the cost of looking after them. 1/n

A Dignity in Dying patron, AC Grayling, has told The Telegraph he’d already like to extend assisted dying to people who are “wheelchair bound.” Not remotely chilling. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11...

This is awful & heartbreaking. Schoolchildren from struggling families have pretended to eat out of empty lunchboxes to save their embarrassment at having no food.

Ending child poverty must be a priority for the Government

Always this. Never not this. You don’t get to say “well, if you read the story, you’ll see it’s a careful and nuanced take”. Is it? Then don’t use a dogshit headline!
100x as many people see the social headline as read the body of the story! it's *more* important to get it right

I've done the rounds of Threads and Mastodon and here and I genuinely feel most comfy here. I think it's probably because it looks 'right' and feels very Twitter in the early days.
