Fascinating and important for our future: the European Space Agency ESA plans to monitor changes in the Atlantic Ocean Circulation #AMOC from satellite with a new gravity mission.
That is important since the AMOC may be approaching a dangerous #tippingpoint. 🌊

A niche #FossilFriday: the world's greatest display of Devonian actinopterygian fossils! At CMNH, it features three different genera all from the latest Devonian of NE Ohio. Might not seem like much, but that's ~15% of Devonian generic diversity in a single museum case.

We visited the stromatolites! Not once, not twice, but thrice!
Here is a video and some drone photos of the large stromatolite area at low tide. The walkway was destroyed by a cyclone a few years ago and hasn't been rebuilt. Hamlin Pools, Shark Bay, Western Australia.

I’ve been diving Victoria for 25+ yrs & never seen a blue groper west of Wilson Prom. I had heard they’re making a comeback in the Port Phillip heads and on the weekend I saw one and managed this snap one off Pt Lonsdale! I believe this is a Achoerodus gouldii
