Therapeutic Approach
Victoria, Australia
The State will now treat, trial and punish 14-year-olds as adults. This may include life sentences. Expert advice and research is clear: punitive 'consequences' don't work, but preventative, therapeutic and culturally appropriate measures - will.

This is disgusting. Why can't Australia's government add batteries and panels and provide power to these relatively few homes in remote areas like this? We're a rich nation.

There used to be a program - Bushlight - that set up renewable energy systems in remote communities (and trained the locals in how to maintain and manage them). Presumably cancelled by the Abbott government on the basis of being successful

Bushlight was CfAT's renewable energy program running between 2002 and 2013, which installed over 130 renewable energy systems across remote Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland.

Good to see it being called what it is, state sanctioned child abuse is still child abuse.
www.abc.net.au/news/2025-09...
Albanese has allowed the NT, and all states to abuse children as young as 10 years old. The NT is basically an apartheid state and PM has never answered a question on it without palming off responsibility to the states.
Now he MUST ACT!!
Experts say jails cause kids 'irreversible trauma'. They want Albanese to act
Forty years ago, the federal government used the constitution to halt construction of the Franklin Dam. Now lawyers want the Albanese government to do the same to keep kids out of jails.
