I'm seriously starting to question the credibility of the FIFA Peace Prize.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE
With Bardot's passing, the only named individuals in Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire that are still alive are Bob Dylan, Chubby Checker, and Bernie Goetz. The last one standing will claim The Prize.

And so another year ends and I draw closer to my dream of prowling the ruins of our fallen civilization to hunt down the monsters who did this to us.

Been getting lots of correspondence (on paper!) from the law firm handling the Anthropic settlement and it’s been like having a second, secret Christmas wrapped up in the first. Very much looking forward to taking Anthropic’s money. Might spend it on some paper books.

Just read this in Men’s Health magazine and I have never felt more seen: ‘In my experience, lazy people don’t get insomnia. If [a lazy person’s] sleep goes a bit wrong, they’re like, “What can I do about it? Nothing.” And then it resolves itself.’

Doing a Rob Reiner retrospective for Christmas. Started with Spinal Tap, a great movie, very funny, but it reminded me of how much of rock ‘n’ roll was really terrible

You know, it’s possible the Trump Class battleship will deter Chinese adventurism because no PLAN admiral wants to risk the loss of face involved in soiling his dress whites while laughing so hard at these fucking things during an engagement that he loses control of his bladder.

I’d been holding off updating my iPhone OS because all my favorite Apple podcast bros hate Liquid Glass with the power of a thousand suns. But I updated yesterday and I don’t mind it at all.

Meanwhile back at the legacy content farm… NYT: “In combative speech Trump tries to deflect blame for economic worries.”

It’s like they’ve forgotten how to write down what’s happening and put it in an article.
He is literally ranting and raving, and I am really really glad this is being carried by the networks

Boy, I haven’t seen the news yet but really surprised at Josh Frydenberg blaming Netanyahu for the Bondi massacre.

Having lunch. Reading the third of Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet and loving the shit out of Elena morphing from novelist to journalist. It feels like Ferrante wrote it just for me.

Just wrote a bad sentence: He wedged his back against the slab of broken cement block and pushed.

Was about to delete it and start again, when I thought, wait, maybe I should leave this as a humble organic flaw. Proof that I alone wrote this terrible garbage copy.

Then I deleted it.

This is a legitimate concern. But Imma still throw an absofuckinglutely banging kegger to celebrate.
Everyone’s gonna die someday. Trump may die sooner, and when he does, I worry there will be a genuine explosion of violence by people who will be enraged by the celebrations, a deepening of the rift.
