Lucinda William’s eponymous 1988 album might be my all time favorite album.

Listening to this album brought me back from all-consuming rage and despair after the election. It was the first time I felt human in days.

Vibes at #nokings in Montpelier, Vermont today: joyous, righteous and fun!

It felt different from the past protests - more hopeful and energetic? Less despair and more empowered. And the creativity! Sculpture, costumes, artwork, music and plays! ❤️

I wrote about Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ezra Klein, why swallowing live frogs is a bad idea, and how context and history can release you from bright-kid syndrome, the illusion that you yourself are going to have every answer or fix the world.
You don't have to swallow frogs
Klein and Coates show that if you don't know what your core beliefs are, you're going to get played.

I’m so bored with FAFO responses to this.

Read what ppl say: seeing firsthand the chaotic, desperate immigration system in their literal backyards made them prioritize Trump’s promise of order and control.

These are winnable folks to antifascism if we address their real needs.

Vermonters!
I went to this last night in Barre and it was really grounding and motivating! There’s a big difference between knowing about this national shitshow vs. hearing how it directly affects my community and the mechanisms for change that are within my reach.
Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" is hugely damaging legislation, & threatens communities across VT. That's why, in collaboration with our partners, we are putting on a Big Beautiful Tour - join us at one of the listed panels to learn how you can respond! #vtpoli

Driest summer in Vermont since 1913.
State regulators have issued a fire ban as drought conditions continue to intensify across the state and fire danger is now high in every Vermont county.
New fire bans in place as drought continues across Vermont
Every Vermont county has a fire ban as of Monday, and the Green Mountain National Forest is also restricting campfires.

Got my Covid and flu shot in Vermont on Monday! Easily scheduled through CVS.

Don’t wait to get your shot! The more people have updated vaccinations, the more protected we ALL are!
PSA: If you haven’t yet, it may be a good idea to get your COVID shot this week.

Reports suggest that CDC may further restrict COVID vaccine access to people aged 75 and up, unless you have an condition.

The committee that advises the CDC on vaccines meets this Thursday.
RFK Jr.’s CDC may limit COVID shots to 75 and up, claim they killed kids
A battle is brewing over mRNA vaccines, which could intensify backlash against Kennedy.

The basic rights of our allies are not luxury beliefs but the core of any solidarity movement. If you can’t see this, you have bo business trying to take the lead in this moment nor do you have any business telling us what to do with our political power.

We’re 3-4 yrs in to this living shadecloth experiment.

Grapes don’t leaf out until June here, so the greenhouse warms up in the spring. Then the leaves shade the space for the rest of the summer.

Started with concord (Z4) but planted seedless table (Z3) this yr.

Today I wrote about a general tendency to accept atrocious premises, and the need to reject fascism's false choices in order to find expansive and imaginative paths forward.

Breaking the premise, embracing the obstacles, pursing everything.

There Is No Trolley Problem
We actually aren't constrained into atrocious premises by thought exercises. Obstacles are a reason to fight, not an excuse to quit. Our friends and neighbors aren't distractions..

We need much more research on this stuff. Veggie farms use so much plastic packaging and we are always looking for alternatives. Not in the least because all our bags come from ULINE (fuck them)
Interesting read. Having spent time working in vineyards can vouch that old canes can be an issue. Turning them into a strong plastic alternative certainly appeals.

Can #grapevines help slow the plastic waste problem?

Good info in this article. I didn’t know the different ways that chemical and mineral sunscreens work. I’d like to get a good chemical sunscreen that is unscented… and maybe try to convince my coop to carry it.

Garlic harvest last week yielded some of the biggest garlic we’ve grown. Everything is so abundant and alive. I think my ‘good’ work has contributed maybe 20% to this favorable season - the rest is out of my hands.
