Remember Liz Truss? The UK PM who couldn't outlast a head of lettuce? A certain US politician with a similar last name has a worse record than Truss. Why are we riding this roller-coaster of chaos?
"he's revealed a fundamental fragility in the American economy, which is that if we elect a leader who brings forward an economic program of destruction, our political institutions are not strong enough to stop them."

It's been 15 years since an insurance company could deny you coverage for a pre-existing health condition.
Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.

A fiscally conservative friend of mine surprised me by suggesting support for a 75% top marginal tax rate. 75% seems outrageous now, but the top rate has been higher. The wealthiest Americans in 1940 paid up to 81%. In 1960 it rose to 91%.

And a cry arose from the heartland.
NEBRASKA CROWD: “TAX THE RICH! TAX THE RICH!”

@USRepMikeFlood: “So your proposal to solve (the debt) is tax the rich?”

NEBRASKA CROWD: *CHEERS WILDLY*

(not sure this went quite as he planned 😬)

A constitutional right or civil liberty stripped from one of us simply for exercising it is lost to all of us. It no longer exists.

The current US regime cares nothing for alliances, democratic values, or free trade. What they crave is empire and conquest. Trade wars won't satisfy them. While it horrified me to say it, Panama or Greenland may be first in line.

These words have to mean something.
I’m a big fan of JVL, but I can’t abide this.

Those words meant something, and whatever the current circumstance, I’ll spend the rest of my days trying to make sure they mean something again.
Trump was right. We truly are a nation of suckers to have believed this shit.

Breaking our intelligence services is foolhardy. Either you believe there is no threat or you are the threat.
The politicization and weaponization of both the CIA and the FBI at the same time sets the country up for another intelligence failure on the scale of Pearl Harbor or 9/11. A joint essay by me and @tim-weiner.bsky.social: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/patel-ratc...

It seems vaccines have worked too well. If a disease goes away for a few generations, people lose the perceived benefit. We're definitely in the FAFO era.

Wow! This explains better than anything else I've read how the US became a vassal state of Russia in one short month.
🎯🎯🎯 THIS! Patrimonialism accurately describes dumpster’s style of government. Putz-in used to govern like this, so no surprise.
dump &friends look at the US as their personal possession to do with as they want. Laws? PPFFFT.
How do we fight this?

Proper parliamentary use of the word bananas.
Murphy: "Let me say that again. The man that my Republican colleagues are about to vote to lead the FBI believes there is irrefutable proof that the agency he is about to lead secretly organized the violent assault on the Capitol. That is bananas. My Republican colleagues know that."

US says 'US-Russia agree to address irritants to bilateral relationship.' I have questions. Surrender Ukraine, of course. Weaken NATO? Sure. Give Russia control of the Arctic Ocean? This explains the harassment of Canada and Greenland. It seems Putin's investments in Trump are paying off in spades.
