Calling out bullshit like this is so refreshing to hear. It’s what politicians in opposition are meant to do, but I only really see it in NZ from Swarbrick. Hipkins is too nice.

I’ve heard people say that we need cultural not technological change to save us. Technologies have their own cultures though. Microsoft’s has always made me feel ill.
If Schleswig-Holstein (30,000 public servants) can switch away from
Microsoft Office, Exchange and eventually Windows, I’m sure the NZ public service (63,000 FTEs) could do so too.
Not just saving money but improving digital sovereignty.

A large part of our public sector's services rely heavily on Microsoft, creating uncertainty. Schleswig-Holstein's shift to alternatives is a promising step that Europe should follow.

Reminder: So far, globally, we've done exactly nothing about carbon pollution. That is what the data says -- exactly nothing. We're right on (slightly above) the trend in atmospheric concentration extrapolated from 25 years ago.

I hate the word “intelligence” but when you look at the most successful artists and musicians, a lot of them are or were super intelligent motherfuckers, so I’d call it that rather than a “knack,” but agree the word talent is pretty empty.
I hate the word "talented." It's an empty idea that obscures effort. I prefer to think some people are born with a "knack." A brain with a knack adapts to certain skillsets faster, but without dedication, knack falters. Many are born with more passion than knack, and passion succeeds every time.
