Please take a minute to google what a gun looks like, really what anything looks like. But for some reason revolvers get the short end of the stick when it comes to looking even remotely like their real life counterparts.

Simple silhouettes of various handguns. A handgun as often drawn by artists who don't look at reference pictures, which is labelled "abomination unto the lord", features a large barrel aligned close to the center axis of the cylinder, as well as a tiny triggerguard and a very wide grip coming out straight under the cylinder. A semi automatic pistol is given as an example of a handgun where the grip needs to be in line with the receiver, which is most likely what feeds this kind of mistake. A revolver with more realistic proportions is given as an example of why the barrel needs to be higher up in relation to the cylinder, as well as where the grip should sit.
