You do know, don’t you?, that tsampa is excellent for preventing constipation.

Also it’s quite tasty.

I’m pondering the air travel adage “secure your own mask, then assist others.“ What does it mean for American NGOs like the one I ran that assist the developing world? Should we stop doing that until we can secure our own democracy (and economy) first? #NGO #development #USAID

I wonder if Chinese AI systems are better at answering factual questions than ChatGPT is?
December 8, 2025 at 5:50 AM
Today I asked ChatGPT to get me the answer to a purely factual question about the Chinese name for the county of Drayap. The answer it gave was absolutely wrong. It mixed up Drayap with Dabpa/Daocheng, a different county.

That'll be the last time I ask ChatGPT to help me with research.

Engineer here. The root cause and contributing causes must be investigated regardless of anyone’s cultural sensitivities. But I suspect that there was a lot more energy density and quantity in the bamboo than in the mesh; also the bamboo was in direct contact with the building, the mesh less so.
Please be mindful it is mildly racist to talk about bamboo scaffolding as the issue in the Hong Kong fires when photos clearly show the buildings were also wrapped in flammable plastic+cloth green mesh, which is “Western.”

These hard-working Chinese migrants to Mali have pioneering spirit and a flair for running small businesses, reminding me of the many (Han) Chinese I've encountered in Tibet. Love them or hate them, they are unstoppable and will go wherever there is opportunity. #Chinesediaspora wapo.st/44z8K7h

"Bluesky is basically Twitter in 2014" . . . before Twitter's algorithms were installed with for the purpose to maximize user time doom scrolling and rage commenting.
Today is one of those days when I should have taken my own advice. Flooded with rage tweets on the other platform. Garbage way to communicate that only brings out the worst in people. All dunks, no conversation. Complete waste of time trying to engage there www.gelliottmorris.com/p/you-should...
You should quit social media for good
Platforms optimized for engagement warp our politics, erode attention, and harm our wellbeing. Here’s how I minimize time on the (anti‑)social web.

Africa is headed for a mass casualty era as US aid for healthcare and food has been slashed. My NGO (KhamAid.org) trained village midwives in Tibet. Why didn’t USAID do more to build capacity when it had a chance? #Africa #hunger #HIV

The Chinese government is now paying incentives to people to use “ecological“ burial practices. They should issue back payments to Tibetans, who have been feeding remains of the deceased to vultures for centuries. #Tibet #skyburial
